Seabridge Mines – KSM Mine Project

Timber Cruise, Analysis and Clearing Plan to Support Regulatory Permitting Processes

We were retained by Seabridge Gold to assist with forestry issues related to the development of their Kerr-Sulphurets-Mitchell (KSM) Mine Project in a remote location in north-western BC. As the KSM Project was undergoing a joint harmonized environmental assessment review by government Environmental Assessment Agencies, we provided the forestry information necessary to facilitate the acquisition of government forestry clearing permits.

Our scope of work included:

  • Systematic sampling and data collection of forest values.
  • Coordinating air support logistics to support remote field sampling activities.
  • Identifying potential ground access routes and water crossings for the extraction of commercial timber.
  • Prescribing clearing practices and suitable techniques for cost effective clearing and removal of the forest vegetation within construction zones.
  • Calculation of merchantable volume impacted by the project using proprietary computer software.
  • Preparation and submission of Licence to Cut permit applications for Mines Act Tenures.
