Copper Fox Metals – Schaft Creek Project
Timber Cruise and Analysis
We were retained by Copper Fox Metals to quantify the volume of merchantable timber that would be impacted by the development of the Schaft Creek Mining Project. A systematic sampling plan was developed that encompassed the entire footprint of the proposed mining project. The sampling plan was submitted and approved by the BC Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations. Crews of foresters and technicians were deployed by helicopter to the remote project area in northwestern BC and field sampling of tree heights, diameters and quality was subsequently carried out.
After sampling was completed the merchantable volume was calculated using IFS’s proprietary CruiseComp software program that calculated merchantable volume. A second program was used to estimate the Crown stumpage impact of vegetation clearing, with consideration of volume and development costs.
