Computer Services

The IFS Computer Department offers a variety of different services to meet individual clients needs. Our areas of expertise include data entry and validation, database design and analysis , computer set-up and networking support for Microsoft Windows, RedHat Linux, and hp Open VMS, as well as custom programming.

IFS also offers shrink-wrapped software products, the Interior Stumpage Appraisal Program, and the Interior Cruise Compilation Program (see descriptions below). For information pertaining to the use of these products, please see our product support pages.

Interior Stumpage Appraisal

The appraisal program was designed to emulate the stumpage calculations done by the Ministry of Forests. Given the same input, the program will calculate the stumpage rate to within two cents of the Ministry's Calculations. The program does allow for both, the Comparative Pricing System (CVP), as well as the Market Pricing System (MPS).

The data input screens for the program are modeled after the Ministry's appraisal data sheets, and are easily filled out by anyone familiar with the Interior Appraisal Manual.

The Interior Stumpage Appraisal Program will run on any PC capable of running Microsoft 95 (or higher).

Interior Cruise Compilation Program

The timber cruise compilation program will produce all reports required by the Ministry of Forests, as well as a few optional reports. The program does meet the Ministry’s specifications. It includes a data entry utility, which allows data to be entered by the user, or imported/exported in the standard Ministry data format. To insure data integrity, the program includes extensive data checks.

Although the program will run on any PC capable of running Microsoft Windows 98 (or higher), a minimum of a Pentium 400 with 32 Mb of memory is recommended.
